Building Block Math

5th-7th Grade

Building Block math is a 28-week middle school course developed to reinforce the math skills necessary for success in high school math.  Special emphasis will be placed on mastering fractions, decimals, percents, and integers.  Students will also be introduced to equations and exponents. Students will be expected to complete weekly homework and assessments.  Class time will include group projects and hands-on learning.

Required Material and Texts: Supplied by tutor
Tuition: $350 per year.  May be paid in full or as two payments of $175 dated July 1 and October 1.  Non-refundable after July 1.

Class size minimum set at 6 students

Pre-Algebra

This is a 30-week course covering the equivalent of a public/private high school PreAlgebra school year. PreAlgebra is the most important math class of both the middle school and high school years as it lays the foundation for every math class which is to follow.  Students that gain a strong grasp of PreAlgebra have a much easier transition into more complicated math concepts.  Classes will include review, instruction, and assessment. Also included with this course is an online subscription to IXL. 
Each week includes video instruction for at home reinforcement of concepts, as well as standardized test practice to prepare for the ACT.

This is a 30-week course covering the equivalent of a public/private high school Algebra 1 school year. Classes will include review, instruction, and assessment. Also included with this course is an online subscription to IXL.

Tuition payment arrangements must be made with individual tutors. A nonrefundable Early Registration fee of $60 per student will be paid directly to Horizon Homeschooling (max. $180 per family) via online registration. Registration is $70 per person after May 31st (max. $210 per family).

NOTE: Registration is not complete until registration fees and tutor supply/material fees* are paid at our Open House. Registrations after Open House are to be completed with all fees paid to tutors within two weeks of online registration in order to avoid restarting the registration process.

Horizon Homeschooling Tutors are contracted to serve as enrichment tutors alongside a comprehensive home education program. Grade reporting is the responsibility of the student’s parent or guardian.

Note: Horizon Homeschooling is not an umbrella school.
